HOW I FOUND MY AUSTRALIAN FAMILY

Now that I found my agency it was time to wait. They told me that probably I will have to wait very long, because most of the families don't look for an au pair so early. So I didn't expect to hear so soon from a family!

It was the last day of school before the winter holidays began and I was sitting with my friends, talking and laughing and just waiting for the holidays to start, when suddenly my phone vibrated. "Mail: Au Pair Position Australia". My heart beat faster. "Oh my god, girls! You won't believe what I kind of mail I just got!!!" Everyone looked at me inquiring. "Ehm... a family... a family from Australia, I mean..." At a moments notice everyone was so excited and they all wanted to know, what was the content of the mail. So I started to read: "Hello Greta, we have received your file..." and then they started to explain that they are interested in me being their au pair!! It was a very long e-mail and they told me a lot about themselves and how my week as an au pair would look like. They sound so friendly and want me to become a part of the family. While reading the mail my smile got bigger with every sentence. And my friends were just the same. Whenever I read to them something about the children, you could hear an "awwwwwww" or when I said something about the area there was an "ohhhhhh!". They also attached some images of themselves and after that everyone was so excited for me - you could say how happy I was.

Not only that a family answered so fast to my file, but that I was so lucky, that I found this super awesome family!

One day later, I was sitting in our car to a fashion show, I didn't even had the time to answer to the family (you know, such a long e-mail deserve an even longer answer). And then the surprise: Another e-mail. Another family. I didn't know that other families would or could contact me. So I read their e-mail to, of course excited that other people had such interest in me. They were very young and only had one child, lived in a nice area and seemed very interested (they wrote, that they wanted to show me their whole family). But after reading there was not the same feeling that I had when I finished reading the first mail. There are different reasons why I had to refuse them and I felt really sorry. I was just getting comfort with the thought that I only have to disappoint one family, when I got another e-mail. During this time, you know, I felt very important. :D

Anyway, the third family was very lovely, too. They have twins and another child, who were super adorable. The parents seemed to be very friendly, too (from what I can say concerning pictures and spelling style), but there was a thing, that was troublesome - their mother tongue was german. Of course they speak fluent english, but the language issue was something that made me think. I am going to Australia to speak english the whole time and not german. Because if I had the chance to, I think I would (otherwise I would feel weird while talking english, knowing that the others would understand me in german, too...). I told them my decision and of course they were disappointed. And they ask me, if I had any friends that want to come to Australia as an au pair.

So if anyone of you reading this, is interested in getting a lovely family in Australia, that also speaks german (maybe for someone, who is not that confident in speaking english), starting in July this year, contact me! :)

Anyway, I decided to go with the first family, who I think is a perfect match and I am very happy with my decision! :)
